The Crafty Writers group is a friendly selection of writers who meet in central Manchester on Saturday afternoons. The group started in 2013 after members attended a series of six workshops run by Lorrie Porter. When the initial workshops came to an end the group decided they wanted to continue meeting on a monthly basis to read and discuss each other’s work, and provide constructive feedback.
Members come from a variety of writing backgrounds, including the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, National Novel Writing Month, the Open University and the Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University. All of which makes us sound very grand, but in reality we’re simply a group of people who have a passion for storytelling and a love of writing.
The Crafty Writers have celebrated many successes, from published novels, audio books and magazine fillers, to winning poetry competitions and having their short stories shortlisted in competitions run by The Writers’ Forum and The Writing Magazine.
Also, we eat a lot of biscuits.
